Commander Ted. W. Carlson

Commander Ted Carlson is a graduate of San Diego State University.

CDR Carlson most recently served as the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Requirements Officer on the staff of Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic. In this capacity, he functioned as the command’s lead for defining and resourcing fleet requirements for the Aegis Weapons System, Ballistic Missile Defense, Anti-Cruise Missile Defense, and Aegis Ashore.

CDR Carlson enlisted in the Navy in 1989 and served ten years as a Data Systems Technician. He graduated from San Diego State University and received his commission through the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1999.

CDR Carlson’s at sea assignments include as the Damage Control Assistant and Fire Control Officer in USS THACH (FFG 43), and Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS BARRY (DDG 52). Throughout his career he has completed multiple deployments and supported numerous operations including RESTORE HOPE, SOUTHERN WATCH, NOBLE EAGLE, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and the Non-Combatant Evacuation of Lebanon.

Ashore, he served as the Joint Operations Center Team Chief in the U.S. European Command Plans and Operations Center; and more recently as the lead Civil Support planner of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command.

CDR Carlson attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, receiving a Master of Arts in National Security Affairs. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Naval War College Joint Professional Military Education program.

Personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
