Welcome Aboard Commander Amphibious Squadron Eight
Congratulations on your orders to Amphibious Squadron Eight. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you aboard our winning team. COMPHIBRON EIGHT is the finest of three Amphibious Squadrons assigned to the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. The staff's mission is to lead an Amphibious Ready Group consisting of Amphibious Ships, detachments from an Assault Craft Unit, Naval Beach Group, and Tactical Air Control Squadron. The staff and naval units join with a Marine Expeditionary Unit to form a potent blue-green team capable of fulfilling national tasking throughout the world. Your assignment to the staff speaks to the caliber of your performance. I am sure that you will find your tour on the staff professionally challenging and rewarding.
Now with orders in hand there are assignments on your orders that must be complete prior to checking in, please make sure you have read your orders in their entirety, so that the check in process is a smooth transition from your prior command. Once the command assigns you a sponsor, please keep in good contact with this person, any questions related to the command will be answered by them. An Ombudsman serves as a liaison between the command and Sailors’ families. He or she is the point of contact for the families. The Ombudsman can assist with navigating through the Navy life through information and referral.
