Captain F. Byron Ogden

Captain Ogden graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May of 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering. During his time at USNA he played four years of varsity football and was the captain of the team his senior year. He remained at USNA for the following year to coach football while waiting to start flight school. 

In December 1994 CAPT Ogden was designated a Naval Aviator in Pensacola, Florida.  He completed Fleet Replacement Training in the SH-60F/HH-60H Seahawk at Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron ONE (HS-1), Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. 
CAPT Ogden next reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron THREE (HS-3) where he served as the Line Division Officer, Personnel Officer, NATOPS Officer and Quality Assurance Officer while completing deployments aboard USS JOHN F KENNEDY (CV 67) and USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71).  His other operational flying tours included serving as the Assistant Operations Officer, Combat Search and Rescue Officer, Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and Airplan writer on the Carrier Air Wing THREE staff, and back at HS-3 where he was the Admin Officer, Maintenance Officer and Operations Officer.  He deployed aboard USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and aboard USS ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) where he concurrently operated with British Joint Helicopter Force-Iraq (JHF-I) in Basrah, Iraq.
Shore tours include Air Test and Evaluation Squadron ONE (VX-1) where he was the Operational Test Director for several projects including the APR-39A(V)2 and the AQS-22 Airborne Low Frequency Sonar System; a year at the College of Naval Warfare in Newport, RI where he earned a Masters of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies; and a tour in the Pentagon serving as the Protocol Officer for the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. 
CAPT Ogden served as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron FIVE (HS-5). During his XO/CO tour he deployed aboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in both 2010 and 2012.
Post command, CAPT Ogden reported to NAVPERSCOM in Millington, Tennessee where he served as the Helicopter Commander Assignments Officer and PERS-43 Deputy.
In December 2014 CAPT Ogden reported to Commander, Amphibious Squadron SIX (CPR-6) as the Deputy Commodore.  On 1 April 2016 CAPT Ogden assumed command of CPR-6 and in June 2016 deployed as Commodore of the WSPARG leading the ARG/MEU team into substantial and effective combat operations in Libya - commencing and concluding Operation ODYSSEY LIGHTNING.
CAPT Ogden has accumulated 4,000 hours in various aircraft; the vast majority in H-60 variants.
