Captain Kirk A. WeatherlyDeputy
Captain Weatherly, a native of Farmland, Indiana, enlisted in the Navy in August of 1980 and was promoted through the ranks to SCPO prior to being commissioned through the Enlisted Commissioning Program at Old Dominion University in 1992.
Captain Weatherly is a Surface Warfare Officer. His sea duty has included assignments aboard USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41), USS OAK HILL (LSD 51), USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) and multiple assignments aboard the aircraft carrier USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65). He has deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and Maritime Interception Operations off the Horn of Africa.
He served ashore as the Officer-in-Charge of the Naval Air Forces Atlantic Surface Nuclear Propulsion Mobile Training Team, and as the ACOS for Operations at Expeditionary Strike Group Two.
He has served as Commanding Officer USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41) and also served as the final operational Reactor Officer of ENTERPRISE, his third tour on the Big E.
Captain Weatherly holds a master’s degree in Engineering Acoustics from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia.
His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various service medals and unit awards.
