Tactical Air Control Squadron

The mission of a tactical air control squadron (TACRON) is to train, deploy and support combat ready detachments by providing centralized planning and the control, coordination and integration of amphibious and expeditionary combat air operations.  The mission areas consist of tactical air control of close air support, aircraft, expeditionary air operations ashore and the air operations center afloat.  A TACRON must be ready to effectively perform each of these missions simultaneously.
