Senior Enlisted Leader
Born and raised in Hartsville, SC, Senior Chief Davis enlisted in May 1991 in Asheboro, NC. He completed Basic Training in July 1991 at RECRUIT TRAINING COMMAND in Orlando, FL and then relocated to SERVICE SCHOOL COMMAND, GREAT LAKES, located in Great Lakes, IL. There he attended Gas Turbine System Technician (Electrical) ‘A’ and ‘C’ school.
Upon graduation, Senior Chief Davis reported for duty aboard USS PUGET SOUND (AD 38), a destroyer tender, home ported in Norfolk, VA, where he served in the 31-T Gas Turbine Repair shop.
Following USS PUGET SOUND’s de-commissioning in February 1996, Senior Chief Davis was transferred to Assault Craft Unit Four sea side Maintenance Department as a Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) electrical technician. During his tour, he deployed six times to the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf. His second deployment and all subsequent were as a Maintenance Chief including ACU-4’s only deployment with a First Class Petty Officer serving in that capacity.
During his eleven year tour in Maintenance, Senior Chief served in many roles. He was part of the teams that formed the Line Shack, the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) office, and the combined maintenance organization. Senior Chief Davis has frequently served as the command representative for SLEP, maintenance, Personnel Transport Module (PTM) and INSURV issues.
In December 2006, Senior Chief Davis transferred to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic for LCAC Craftmaster school. After graduation, he returned to ACU-4 where he has recently deployed with the USS BATAAN (LHD-5) as Craftmaster of LC88. Upon return he was assigned to Detachment Tango as the Leading Chief Petty Officer as well as Craftmaster for LC39. His team provided the craft required to meet every training mission for the command including an unprecedented 438 consecutive successful flights.
In May 2013, he checked into Naval Beach Group TWO as Leading Chief for N43. During his short time there, he has administered the implementation of INSURV inspections aboard the INLS as well as performing craft material and Detachment readiness inspections. He was subsequently selected to serve as the Command Senior Enlisted Advisor.
He is entitled to wear the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), the Good Conduct Medal (six awards) and various service, unit and campaign awards.
