COMNAVBEACHGRU TWO

Welcome Aboard!!

Naval Beach Group TWO is a "tip-of-the-spear" amphibious warfare staff whose mission is two-fold: 1) to operate offensively in a high density, multi-threat environment as an integral member of an Amphibious Task Force or Expeditionary Strike Group; and 2) operate forward deployed as the Naval Support Element (NSE) to the Commander Maritime Prepositioning Forces (CMPF), supporting the ship-to-shore movement of the Marine Expeditionary Brigade's (MEB) assets from prepositioned ships.

NBG-2 is an Immediate Superior In Command (ISIC) Staff that supports four subordinate commands that provide 100% of the amphibious connector support to the Atlantic Amphibious Fleet:

  • Assault Craft Unit FOUR (ACU-4) operates Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), which are hovercraft that can deliver 60 tons of cargo & vehicles and travel at speeds of more than 40kts.
  • Assault Craft Unit TWO (ACU-2) operates Landing Craft Utility (LCU), Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM), and MPF Utility Boat (UB) displacement craft that support Amphibious Assault as well as Maritime Preposition Force (MPF) operations.
  • Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO (ACB-2) provides the unique combination of ship-to-shore and light to heavy construction capabilities ... the "Amphibious SeaBees"!
  • Beachmasters Unit TWO (BMU-2) owns the beach!  Their Beach Party Teams are the first ones on the beach, set up the beach, and direct the throughput from the beach to the front lines.
