Captain Eric J. Anderson
Captain Anderson assumed command of Naval Beach Group TWO in January 2018. A native of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1985 and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1990.
As a Surface Warfare Officer, he has deployed across the globe in amphibious, mine warfare and combat logistics force ships. His sea duty assignments include Main Engines Officer in USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3), Chief Engineer in USS Warrior (MCM 10), USS Dextrous (MCM 13), and USS LaMoure County (LST 1194) as well as Commissioning Navigator in USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). As Executive Officer, he served in USS Detroit (AOE 4) earning two Battle Efficiency Awards for operational excellence and the Golden Anchor for superior retention. He served as Chief Staff Officer for Mine Countermeasures Squadron Five/Commander Task Force 52 in Manama, Bahrain and commanded Assault Craft Unit TWO and Assault Craft Unit FOUR. The ACU 4 maintenance team earned the 2017 Secretary of Defense Award for excellence in field-level maintenance during his tenure in command.
Ashore, Captain Anderson has served on the U.S. Central Command staff in the Operations Directorate (J3) and Chief of Naval Operations staff, Expeditionary Warfare Division (OPNAV N85). While assigned to N85, he served as Requirements Officer for the Joint High Speed Vessel, the Ship-to-Shore Connector and In Service Amphibious Ships. While assigned to U.S. Fleet Forces Command, he served in the Fleet Training Requirements and Policy (N71) Directorate, Combined Joint Operations from the Sea (CJOS) Centre of Excellence (COE), and the Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) Division as the AT Policy and Requirements Branch Head. His most recent deployed assignment was Chief, Naval Forces Division, U.S. Military Training Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he served as the senior Naval Advisor to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Combat Systems (Physics) subspecialty code. He is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College.
Captain Anderson’s personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal and various unit, campaign and service awards.
