CMDCM(SW) Lewis Wilson
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Petty Officer Wilson, is a native of N.C. and enlisted in the United States Navy as a Fire Controlman. He completed Recruit Training with follow on Fire Controlman “A” School in Great Lakes, Ill. graduating in November 1994. He then completed AEGIS Fire Controlman “C” School in Dahlgren, Va. graduating in July 1995. He graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 132 / Brown) in July 2007 and the Command Master Chief / Chief of the Boat Capstone Course in May 2011.
Wilson’s sea tours include USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), Yokosuka, Japan; USS Mobile Bay (CG 53), Yokosuka, Japan; USS Laboon (DDG 58), Norfolk, Va.; USS Gonzalez (DDG 66), Norfolk, Va.; USS Stout (DDG 55), Norfolk, Va. and USS Mahan (DDG-72), Norfolk, Va.
Ashore, he completed two Instructor duty assignments at the AEGIS Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Va. During his first tour, he earned the Master Training Specialist designation, was selected as the Instructor of the Year and advanced to Chief Petty Officer. During his second tour, he served as Senior Enlisted Leader, advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer and subsequently was selected into the Command Master Chief Program. He recently completed his major command tour at the Center for Surface Combat Systems in Dahlgren, Va.
He reported as Command Master Chief aboard USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) in June 2016.
Wilson’s personal decorations include the Master Training Specialist Designation, Enlisted Surface Warfare Designation, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit, campaign, and service awards
