Commander John P. Drosinos
CDR John Peter Drosinos is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and a 1999 graduate of The United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.
Upon commissioning, he served aboard USS HAWES (FFG-53) as the Combat Information Center Officer and Intelligence Officer. At the end of his first tour, he was selected by his Commanding Officer to “fleet up” and served on USS HAWES for his second tour as the Ordnance Officer. During his three years on USS HAWES, the ship participated in OPERATION DETERMINE RESPONSE in support of USS COLE and was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, the Arabian Gulf, and the Baltic Sea.
Following his Division Officer tours, CDR Drosinos was selected for the Leadership Education and Development Program (LEAD) at the United States Naval Academy earning a Master of Science Degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development through the Naval Postgraduate School.
As a Department Head, he served as the Operations Officer on USS NICHOLAS (FFG-47). During this tour the ship deployed and was assigned to Standing Naval Maritime Group One (SNMG-1). SNMG-1 patrolled the Baltic Sea, Eastern Atlantic, and the Mediterranean Sea providing maritime support operations. While aboard NICHOLAS he was awarded the 2007 Navy and Marine Association Leadership Award. Following this tour, he transferred to COMDESRON TWO and served at the Staff N3 Operations Officer. While assigned to COMDESRON TWO, he was awarded the 2009 Strike Group TWELEVE Junior Officer Award for Excellence in Tactics. As a finalist, CDR Drosinos earned an honorable mention for the 2009 Naval Surface Force’s Junior Officer Award for Excellence in Tactics.
Shore Tours include United States Naval Academy Company Officer and Commander Surface Forces Atlantic Sea Shield Requirements Analyst. CDR Drosinos has also served an Individual Augmentation in support of Commander Sixth Fleet Ballistic Missile Defense SHARP SENTRY and ATLANTIC SENTRY OPERATIONS.
CDR Drosinos’ personal awards include the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, as well as other various service and campaign awards.
