Commander Bobby R. Jones

CDR Bobby R. Jones, USN is from Fayetteville, Georgia and graduated from The Westminster Schools of Atlanta. After accepting an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, he chose the designation of Surface Warfare Officer upon commissioning in May 2001.
 
CDR Jones first assignment was as a Deck Division Officer onboard USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42), homeported in Sasebo, Japan. While onboard, he participated in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and worked alongside Marines in various locals across the Pacific region. He continued serving in this capacity after a hull swap with USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49).  CDR Jones returned to the East Coast and reported aboard USS NORMANDY  
(CG 60) as her Fire Control Officer.  While onboard NORMANDY, he participated in operation NOBLE EAGLE and various other homeland security assignments. He reported back to Annapolis as a recruiter for the United States Naval Academys Admissions Office.  
 
As an admissions counselor, CDR Jones was responsible for the recruitment, mentorship and presentation of hundreds of records to the admissions board of one of the most selective schools in the country. His admissions region included Washington DC, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
 
While stationed there, CDR Jones was selected as an Individual Augmentee and assigned as a United Nations Peacekeeper for the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL). During his time in Africa he worked alongside different foreign military and non government organizations (NGOs) in efforts to bolster the security and living conditions of the populace. CDR Jones then served as the Weapons and Combat Systems Officers onboard USS STETHEM (DDG 63), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan.  While assigned to STETHEM he has participated in numerous national tasking assignments that have contributed to the stability of the Western Pacific region.  He was most recently stationed at the Missile Defense Agency in Colorado Springs as the lead Wargames and Experiments planner for the Agency. 
 
CDR Jones is the recipient of various awards and citations to include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal.  He also received his Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies with an African Studies Concentration from the United States Naval War College.
