Commander Elaine G. Luria Executive Officer

CDR Elaine G. Luria is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a 1997 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Physics and History and a minor in French.
Upon commissioning she served in the forward deployed destroyer USS O’BRIEN (DD 975) based in Yokosuka, Japan as Strike Officer and First Lieutenant. After completing Nuclear Power Training, she served on board the aircraft carrier USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) as Reactor Controls Division Officer.
Following her Division Officer tours she served as the Flag Aide to Commander, U.S. SEVENTH FLEET embarked in USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19), again forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
As a Department Head she served as Operations Officer in USS MASON (DDG 87) and Reactor Training Assistant in USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65).
Ashore, she has been assigned to Commander, Naval Air Forces, Atlantic Fleet as a Maintenance Coordinator (Port Engineer), overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) and to the Intelligence Directorate (J2), United States Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, VA.
CDR Luria received a Master of Engineering Management degree from Old Dominion University in 2004. Additionally, she is a qualified Joint Staff Officer and a graduate of Naval War College Joint Professional Military Education program and the Joint Forces Staff College.
Her awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (six awards), as well as numerous unit and campaign awards.
