Master Chief Stedding was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1993. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Ocean Systems Technician Analyst “A” School, Norfolk, Virginia, where he completed advanced technical field training.

Upon graduation, he reported for duty with Naval Facility, Keflavik, Iceland, and designated as an Ocean Systems Technician Analyst (OTA). After his first tour, Master Chief Stedding was selected to cross rate as an Intelligence Specialist. In December 1995, he reported to the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center, Dam Neck, Virginia to complete the Intelligence Specialist “A”/”C” Schools. Upon graduation, he reported for duty with the Fleet Information Warfare Center, Little Creek, Virginia. His fleet assignments include USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71), Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center, USS WASP (LHD-1), U.S. Second Fleet, and Carrier Strike Group FOUR.

Master Chief Stedding is a graduate from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 182, Brown Group) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course (Class 135). Additionally, Master Chief Stedding has earned his Enlisted Aviation, Surface, Information Dominance Warfare, and Master Training Specialist designations.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
