Commander Darren T. DuganExecutive Officer

CDR Darren T. Dugan enlisted in the Navy in October 1991, and during his enlisted Navy nuclear training, he was selected to attend the University of Colorado NROTC Unit where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned his commission in 1997.
In May of 1998, he reported to Surface Warfare Officer School with follow on orders as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer in USS COLE (DDG 67). In May 2000, he reported for additional Nuclear Power Training in Charleston, SC, with follow on orders to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) where he served as the Reactor Mechanical Division Officer while deploying in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.
In August 2003, he reported to Nuclear Power Training Unit Ballston Spa. While at Ballston Spa, he earned a Masters in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. In August 2005 he reported to USS PORTER (DDG 78) as Operations Officer. While serving in PORTER, he deployed and participated in several Anti-Piracy Operations and National Tasking missions and was selected as Commander Destroyer Squadron Two Tactical Action Officer of the year for 2007.
He returned to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in March 2008 and assumed the duties as the Reactor Electrical Assistant. Following his sea tours, in 2010 he transferred ashore to serve as Flag Aide to Commander, United States Fleet Forces Command and most recently he served as Deputy Operations Officer at Surface Forces Atlantic Fleet.
CDR Dugan’s decorations include five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, unit commendations, campaign medals and service ribbons.
