Commander Robert L. Underhill
A native of Richmond, Va., Cmdr. Robert Underhill attended the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in German. Upon commissioning in 1998, he reported to Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, R.I. Previous sea duty assignments include Operations Officer on board USS KLAKRING (FFG 42), Navigator on board USS SAMUEL ELIOT MORISON (FFG 13) and USS ESTOCIN (FFG 15), and Electrical Officer on board USS VICKSBURG (CG 69).
Cmdr. Underhill most recently served ashore as the Requirements and Action Officer for Destroyer and Cruiser Modernization within OPNAV N96. Previous shore duty assignments include Exercise Officer (N7) at Destroyer Squadron 40, Executive and Administrative Officer for Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 11, and Executive Officer at Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center, Jacksonville, Fla. While on shore duty he completed a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
Cmdr. Underhill's decorations and awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards).
