STGCM(SW/EXW) Brian V. Turner Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Master Chief Turner is a native of Dracut, Massachusetts. A graduate of Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical High School and ITT Technical Institute he enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1993. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California he reported to Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center Pacific, San Diego, California where he completed Sonar Technician Surface apprenticeship training.
His sea duty assignments include USS JOHN YOUNG (DD-973) where he served as Work Center Supervisor, Leading AN/SQS-53B/C Technician, and Sonar Supervisor from August 1995 to September 2000. August 2004 to September 2007, he served as Sonar Division and Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS MASON (DDG-87). September 2011 to September 2012, he served as Sonar Division and Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS BAINBRIDGE (DDG-96). He is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader and ASW Officer with Destroyer Squadron Two Eight. While at sea he has completed several deployments to the Arabian Gulf and Western Pacific.
His shore assignments include Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center where he served as AN/SQQ-89(V) Operations Leading Petty Officer, Operator Course Supervisor and Instructor from October 2000 to January 2004. October 2007 to September 2010, he served as N7 Training Standards Action Officer in Commander Afloat Training Group Atlantic. December 2010 to July 2011, deployed on a Global War on Terror Support Assignment to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, Djibouti, Africa serving as the J-3 Operations Senior Enlisted Leader.
Master Chief Turner holds an Associates of Arts Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 161 Purple). He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, and designated as a Master Training Specialist and Afloat Training Specialist.
His personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 Gold Stars), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 Gold Stars), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various service, unit, and campaign awards
