CAPT William S. Switzer
Captain Scott Switzer is a native of Klamath Falls, Oregon and a 1992 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Following this, he completed Naval Nuclear Power training and earned a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University.
Captain Switzer’s initial sea tour was onboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) where he served as Reactor Laboratory Division Officer and then Chemistry and Radiological Controls Assistant, earning his certification as a Nuclear Engineer. Subsequent sea tours include Weapons and Combat Systems Officer in USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62), Reactor Training Assistant in USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), Commanding Officer of MCM Crew CONFLICT, commanding USS SENTRY (MCM 3), USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11), and USS CHIEF (MCM 14) and Commanding Officer of USS HOWARD (DDG 83). CAPT Switzer’s most recent sea tour was as Reactor Officer on USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74).
CAPT Switzer has served ashore as Training Officer on the Pacific Fleet Nuclear Propulsion Mobile Training Team at Commander, Naval Air Forces Pacific and as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commander of United States Strategic Command. His most recent tour was at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (N96) as branch head for Cruiser and Destroyer Modernization programs.
