CMDCM(SW) Korey J. Jones
Command Master Chief
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Master Chief Jones entered the Navy as a plebe at the U.S Naval Academy in July 1994. Upon his separation in January 1997, he was assigned to General Detail, Anacostia Naval Base in May 1997.
His first Sea tour was on board USS REID (FFG 30) out of San Diego serving as a deck seaman from September 1997 until her decommissioning in September 1998. He reported to Surface School Command Great Lakes in October 1998 to complete Advanced Electronic Technical Core and FC “A” School. After graduation he was temporarily assigned on board USS ANZIO (CG 68) until October 1999 where he began AEGIS Computer Networking Technician (ACNT) “C” School at AEGIS Training and Readiness Center (ATRC) Dahlgren, VA and was advanced to FC3.
He went on to Pre-commission USS LASSEN (DDG 82) and advanced to FC2 in December 2000, while completing one deployment to the Western Pacific. He was advanced to FC1 in November 2003 before detaching in October 2004.
He returned to ATRC Dahlgren as an Instructor and Course Supervisor, quickly earning his Master Training Specialist Qualification and was recognized as both ATRC and Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) Instructor of the Year 2006. He was proudly advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2007.
He then reported to USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98) completing two deployments to the Fifth and Sixth Fleet AOR’s. He advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2010 and assumed duties as Combat Systems Maintenance Manager (CSMM) and Combat Systems Departmental LCPO until his departure in February 2013.
In April 2013 as an honor graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 172 Gray Group, he reported to Commander Surface Forces Atlantic, Norfolk, VA as Force Fire Controlman and advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in May 2013. Master Chief is currently attached to Commander Destroyer Squadron TWO as the Senior Enlisted Advisor.
Master Chief Jones’ personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4), and various campaign awards.
