CMDCM Raymond F. Charest, Jr.
Command Master Chief
Command Master Chief Charest graduated from Springfield Technical High School, Springfield, Massachusetts in June 1986 and enlisted in the Navy on 20 June 1986. He is a graduate of the Air Force Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Touro University International.
Before being selected as the Command Master Chief of Destroyer Squadron Fourteen in August 2013, Master Chief was assigned to USS HUE CITY (CG 66) as the Command Master Chief from December 2010 – July 2013.
Master Chief Charest’s sea duty assignments include the USS DAVIDSON (FF1045); USS RATHBURNE (FF 1057) and two tours onboard USS VICKSBURG (CG 69). During his two tours on the USS VICKSBURG (CG 69), they were nominated for the coveted NEY Award five times and receiving the prestigious award three times. Additionally, the USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) was recognized as “Best in Class” Ship’s Store Award and TYCOM “Best DLR Management Program” Award.
Master Chief Charest’s shore assignments include Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Billeting; USCINCPAC Flag Mess; The Joint Chief of Staff Flag Mess; Commander, Western Hemisphere Group; Commander, Naval Surface Group TWO. Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville, FL as an Officer Recruiter earning the “Officer Recruiter of the Year” for 2008 and 2009 and 2010.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Seventh Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Sixth Award), .
Master Chief Charest resides in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife, Regina.
