Captain Keith Kimberly 
Chief of Staff 

 Captain Keith Kimberly is a native of Vancouver, Washington and graduated in 1989 with a BS in Kinesiology from Iowa State University. Captain Kimberly was designated a Naval Aviator March 1991 in Beeville, TX.

After ten months as a BOOST Company Officer at RTC San Diego, Captain Kimberly was selected to be amongst the first newly winged aviators to fly the F-14D in early 1992. His first fleet assignment was with the Red Rippers of VF-11 and CVW-14 aboard USS Carl Vinson where he served as Line Division Officer and Air-To-Ground Weapons Training Officer. In October of 1995 Captain Kimberly was selected to become part of the first cadre of Strike Fighter Tactics Instructors to graduate from the Navy Fighter Weapons School at which time he joined Tomcat Strike Fighter Weapons School Pacific as an instructor until its disestablishment in April of 1996. Captain Kimberly then moved to Virginia Beach and joined Strike Weapons and Tactics School Atlantic at NAS Oceana where he stayed until August of 1998.

In the fall of 1998 Captain Kimberly moved in to the Training Officer position at VF-2 and CVW-2 aboard USS Constellation until the winter of 2000 when he joined VF-101 as an instructor and the AMU-1 Maintenance Officer.  Kimberly’s next assignment was with VF-2/VFA-2 as the Operations and Maintenance Officer where he first transitioned from the F-14 to the F/A-18F in the summer of 2003. After attending the Naval War College in 2003-2004, Kimberly then moved on to staff duty with AIRLANT for a year before being selected for command and the Executive Officer of VMFAT-101 from 2005-2006.

Captain Kimberly joined the Argonauts of VFA-147 in the fall of 2006 as the Executive and Commanding Officer until late summer 2009 upon which time he was selected as the first US Navy Liaison to the Royal Navy’s First Sea Lord in London, UK.  After nearly four years in the UK, Captain Kimberly has now joined Carrier Strike Group EIGHT as the Chief of Staff.  He has accumulated more than 4,000 hours in various aircraft to go with some 1,000 traps whose awards include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Meritorious Service Medal to go with various Air, Navy Commendation and Navy Achievement Medals.
