Senior Enlisted Leader
Senior Chief Swaney, a native of Streetsboro, Ohio, enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1993. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida he reported to Naval Technical Training Center Pensacola, Florida where he completed Electronic Warfare Technician (EW) training.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty onboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74). His fleet assignments include Fleet Information Warfare Center Detachment San Diego, CA; where he embarked with Commander Carrier Group Seven, onboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS and Commander Cruiser Destroyer Squadron Five, onboard USS NIMTZ (CVN 68). During his deployment on NIMITZ the EW rating merged with CTT, changing his rate to CTTC. Senior Chief Swaney then transferred to USS RONALD REGAN (CVN 76) as the OS Division LCPO. He was later assigned to Commander Carrier Strike Group Twelve as the Assistant Electronic Warfare Officer and Senior Enlisted Advisor, onboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65). Senior Chief Swaney has completed shore assignments at Fleet Information Warfare Center Detachment San Diego, CA, Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization Navy Center of Excellence, Indian Head, Maryland, and Afloat Training Group Norfolk, N7, as Leading Chief Petty officer and acting Department Head. Senior Chief Swaney graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 146.
Senior Chief Swaney is currently serving as Commander Carrier Strike Group Eight Surface Electronic Warfare Officer and Senior Enlisted Advisor, onboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69).
His decorations include: Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
