Rear Admiral Michael C. Manazir
Commander
Rear Admiral Michael C. Manazir assumed command of Carrier Strike Group Eight in October of 2011.
He has been selected
for two stars and received orders to command the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in Fallon, Nev.
Manazir commanded Fighter Squadron (VF) 31, USS Sacramento (AOE 1) and USS Nimitz (CVN 68).
Prior to this tour, afloat tours include services as a Fighter Pilot and Landing Officer aboard various aircraft carriers on the west coast.
Ashore, Manazir served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, twice on the Chief of Naval Operations staff and the Commander, Naval Air Forces staff.
Manazir is a 1981 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and was designated a naval aviator in 1983. He has accumulated more than 3,750 F-14 and F/A-18 flight hours and 1,200 carrier-arrested landings during multiple overseas deployments. He has earned awards commensurate with his rank and position as a naval aviator.
