Ombudsman CrestHello Beachmaster Unit TWO and it's supporting families! My name is Renee Hopper, the new command Ombudsman. An Ombudsman is an official command representative and point of contact for family members connected to Beachmaster Unit TWO. Being a military spouse, I know first hand how important it is to have a support system from day to day and especially while my husband is deployed. As an Ombudsman, I am able to distribute information up and down the chain of command, including official Navy and command information that has been authorized to be released by the Commanding Officer. My duties are also to provide resources and referrals any time they are needed. Using my knowledge of the system, I act as an advocate who is ready to support you directly and empower you with all the resources available. Lastly, I provide access to the appropriate level of the chain of command for necessary intervention, forward suitable requests or grievances and assist during a crisis or disaster. Please be assured that Ombudsmen follow the guidelines of confidentiality as required by the Navy Family Ombudsman Program. We are, however, required by the OPNAVINST 1750.1G to report the following: (1) Suspected child abuse and neglect (2) Alleged domestic abuse (3) Suspected and/or potential homicides, violence, or life endangering situations (4) All suspected and/or potential suicide risks.
