Command Master Chief
Master Chief Campbell is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Max S. Hayes High School in 1974. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of the State of New York in 1996.
After completion of Recruit Training in San Diego, CA in March 1984, he reported to Hospital Corpsman "A" school. After graduating from Pharmacy Technician “C” school, he served in Naval Hospital Jacksonville as a technician.
In 1986 he reported to Patrol Hydrofoil Missile Squadron at Key West, FL. He supported the Coast Guard in numerous Counter Drug operations and supported the invasion of Granada.
In 1989 he reported to Combat Systems Tactical Schools Command, Data Systems technician “A” and “C” schools at Mare Island CA.
In 1991 he reported to sea duty onboard USS MAHAN (DDG 42) where he served as Naval Tactical Data Systems work center supervisor. He is a veteran of Desert Storm, and a member of the USS MAHAN (DDG 42) decommissioning crew.
In 1994 he returned to Combat Systems Tactical Schools Command, Data Systems “C” School as an instructor from 1994-1995. In 1995, Combat Systems Tactical Schools Command was moved to Dam Neck, Virginia. During his tour at Dam Neck, (1995-1999) he was initiated into the Chief Petty Officer ranks. He served as Instructor, Branch Chief, and received his Master Training Specialist designation.
In 1999 he returned to sea duty onboard USS BATAAN (LHD 5) as Data Processing Center Chief Petty Officer. During his tour he supported Operations Noble Eagle and Bright Star.
In February of 2002 he reported to Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Center, Virginia Beach. He served as Maintenance Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer in April 2003.
In April 2005 he returned to sea duty onboard USS EISENHOWER (CVN 69) as CS 5 Division Officer and Combat System Test Officer and was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in April 2006.
In April 2008 he assumed the duties as Command Master Chief onboard USS STOUT (DDG 55). He is currently serving as Command Master Chief of Afloat Training Group Atlantic.
Master Chief Campbell’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), as well as various unit, campaign and personal awards.
