Command Master Chief, Afloat Training Group Mayport
Master Chief Damage Controlman, Surface Warfare/Air Warfare, Michael J. Ashton enlisted in the Navy in 1993, and attended Boot Camp in Great Lakes, Illinois.
His sea-duty assignments include: USS HARLAN COUNTY (LST -1196), USS DONALD COOK (DDG-75) USS PONCE (LPD-15), USS MESA VERDE (LPD-19) home ported in Norfolk Virginia, USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN- 74) home ported in Bremerton Washington and USS Carney (DDG-64) home ported in Mayport Florida.
His shore duty assignments include: Naval Recruiting District Nashville and Center for Naval Engineering Learning Site Pearl Harbor.
He assumed his current position in Jan 2014 as the Lead Damage Control Trainer/Assessor for Afloat Training Group, Mayport. He assumed the duties as Command Master Chief in January 2015.
Master Chief Ashton is a veteran of 7 overseas deployments; including participation in OPERATION DESERT SHIELD/STORM, OPERATION RESTORE HOPE, OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, and OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE.
His personal awards include the four Navy Commendation Medals, One Joint Service Achievement Medal and four Navy Achievement Medals and numerous other personal and campaign awards.
DCCM Ashton married in 1997 the former Alexis Nevada Lovan. They have been married for 17 years and have 3 children Gage, Gabriella and Gianna.
