CMDCM(SW/AW) Kenneth W. Harris
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Harris was born in April of 1967. As an Air Force brat his early years were transient until he settled down on Long Island New York in 1975. He graduated High School in 1985 where he met his wife. He reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes on September 23, 1985.
Upon completing Basic Training and Electronics Technician class ‘A’ school in October of 1986 he attended AIMS MK XII class ‘C’ school and reported to USS SOUTH CAROLINA (CGN-37) for duty on his 19th birthday, where he qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS). His other sea duty assignments include USS THORN (DD-988) where he advanced to Chief Petty Officer, USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD-41) qualifying Officer of the Deck (OOD) under way, USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65), the first and the finest nuclear powered aircraft carrier, where he was selected for the Command Master Chief program.
His first shore tour was at NAS Oceana, yielded his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification. He also completed shore tours at Fleet Technical Support Center Atlantic (FTSCLANT) and the Center for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD). He was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer while attached to CPPD.
After being selected for the Command Master Chief Program Master Chief Harris attended the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 154 Brown. His first CMC tour was with the world Famous Red Rippers of VFA-11 (Here’s to Us…) and he is currently Serving as Command Master Chief of Assault Craft Unit Four in JEB Little Creek.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (four awards) and the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (two awards), as well as various unit and campaign awards.
