CDR Michael O'Driscoll
Commander O’Driscoll is a native of Watertown, New York and a 1994 Graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland.
Sea duty assignments include Division Officer tours in USS HAWES (FFG 53) serving as the Damage Control Assistant and Electrical Officer followed by USS SHAMAL (PC 13) serving as the Weapons/Supply Officer and Executive Officer. Department Head tours were in USS COLE (DDG 67) and USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64) serving as the Engineer Officer. CDR O’Driscoll’s Executive Officer tours were in USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY (FFG 49) and Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron SEVEN. Upon decommissioning of MSRON-7, CDR O’Driscoll stood up Maritime Expeditionary Security Group ONE, Detachment Guam, as Officer-in-Charge. MESG-1 Det Guam would rename to Coastal Riverine Group ONE, Detachment Guam, prior to his departure.
CDR O’Driscoll completed an Individual Augmentation assignment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from May 2006 – May 2007. Assigned as an embedded training team member, CDR O’Driscoll was responsible for mentoring the senior garrison leadership of the 203rd Corps of the Afghanistan National Army, based at Camps Thunder and Lightning in Gardez, Afghanistan.
CDR O’Driscoll’s shore tours include Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, earning a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering. His thesis, “RF Weapon Development Using Open Source Intelligence” included the construction of a directed energy weapon. He additionally completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME I) while in Monterey. CDR O’Driscoll served as a shipbuilding analysis in N80 on the Navy Staff. CDR O’Driscoll’s last shore tour was on the Joint Staff, J-5, in the Deputy Directorate for Strategy and Policy. He initially served as a principal author of the Presidentially Signed Unified Command Plan and then served as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director for Strategy and Policy. CDR O’Driscoll completed JPME II while assigned to the Joint Staff and is a Joint Qualified Officer.
CDR O'Driscoll's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards) and various unit and service awards.
