Chief of the Boat
Master Chief Stoiber was born in Arlington, Calif., and raised in Pittsburg, Calif., where he enlisted in the Navy in June 1980. Following graduation from recruit training in San Diego, he attended Naval Submarine School in Groton, Conn.
Stoiber’s numerous sea duty assignments include tours on the USS John Adams (SSBN 620) (Blue) home-ported in Charleston, SC; the USS Sun Fish (SSN 649) in Norfolk, VA; the USS Holland (AS 32) in Agna, Guam; the USS Key West (SSN 722) in Pearl Harbor and the USS Buffalo (SSN 715), where he served as the Chief of the Boat.
On shore duty, he served as an instructor at the Trident Training Facility, Bangor, Wash., as the Special Warfare Officer on the staff of Commander, Submarine Squadron One and as Engineering Department Master Chief of the Naval Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut. Additionally, he completed a 12- month Individual Augmentee tour in Iraq.
Stoiber reported to the USS Mississippi (SSN 782) in February 2010 as the Chief of the Boat.
Stoiber’s awards include:  Navy Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Battle Efficiency “E” Award (3 awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (8 awards), Armed Forces Service Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon (2 awards), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 awards), Iraq Campaign Medal, Navy Marine Overseas Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5 awards), Kuwait Liberation (Kuwait) Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Strategic Deterrent Patrol Pin (6 patrols).
