Churches Join Black Heritage Month Gospel Concert

GROTON, Conn. - Area churches will help the Commanding Officer of Submarine Base New London and the Commander of Submarine Group 2 "make a joyful noise" during the Black Heritage Month Gospel Music Concert on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 6:30pm at the Shepherd of the Sea Chapel in Groton.

Miracle Temple Church of New London and Walls Temple AME Zion Church, both of New London, New Life Church of Ledyard and Mt. Aery Baptist Church of Bridgeport have joined the celebration, which is free and open to the public.

Music has been a part of the trials and triumphs in African-American heritage, and we've come to understand that the church and Gospel music have been a keystone for much in African-American culture.  We hope to recognize and celebrate this, and the many contributions of African-Americans to the country and the world, by lifting our voices in unity through song and fellowship.

Choirs or soloists interested in participating should contact Joseph M. Brickhouse Sr., or Eric Rattler at 860-694-4451 or 860-694-3341.

We look forward to the possibility of your choir and you joining us for this joyful Black Heritage Month celebration.
