Submarine Group 2 Hosts Black Heritage Month Gospel Concert

GROTON, Conn. - Because of significant interest in the Black Heritage Month Gospel Music Concert, the date of the event  has been moved to Saturday, Feb. 19 at 6:30pm at the Shepherd of the Sea Chapel in Groton.

The Commanding Officer of Submarine Base New London and the Commander of Submarine Group TWO, in concert with our Black Heritage Committee, cordially invite you to "make a joyful noise" and help celebrate Black Heritage Month through music, during this event.

Music has been a part of the trials and triumphs in African-American heritage, and we've come to understand that the church and Gospel music have been a keystone for much in African-American culture.  We hope to recognize and celebrate this, and the many contributions of African-Americans to the country and the world, by lifting our voices in unity through song and fellowship.

Currently, we are seeking choirs to participate.  If you are interested, please RSVP not later than Jan. 28, 2011 with your church's choir name and/or soloist representative.  Also, please include your musical needs.  All choirs are asked to render two selections; all soloists one selection.  The points of contact for this event are Joseph M. Brickhouse Sr., office 860-694-4292/3341, cell 201-463-3867 and Eric Rattler, office 860-694-4451/3341.

We look forward to the possibility of your choir and you joining us for this joyful Black Heritage Month celebration.
