Chief of the Boat, USS Albany (SSN 753)
Master Chief Propst, a native of Miami, Fla., enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1993. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois he reported to Naval Submarine School, New London, Connecticut where he completed Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Fire Control Technician “A” and “C” schools.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty to Pre-commissioning Unit Tucson in Norfolk. His fleet assignments include Naval Submarine School, USS Tucson (SSN 770), USS Cheyenne (SSN 773), and USS Pasadena (SSN 752). In addition, he completed shore assignments as an instructor at Naval Submarine School and a Combat Systems Evaluator on the COMSUBLANT Tactical Readiness Evaluation Team.
Master Chief Propst is currently serving as the Chief of the Boat onboard USS Albany (SSN 753). He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College. Additionally, Master Chief Propst is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Master Enlisted Academy and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course and has earned his Enlisted Submarine Warfare, Scuba Diver, and Master Training Specialist designations.
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
