Master Chief Morgan enlisted in the Navy on Aug. 29, 1990 in Yonkers, N.Y. Following Recruit Training at RTC Orlando, Fla. Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Morgan reported to Submarine School in Groton, Conn. where he graduated as Honor man from Basic Enlisted Submarine School.
His first submarine assignment was on board USS Boston (SSN 703) in Sept. 1991 where he successfully completed an extended overseas deployment. His follow-on shore assignment was to Naval Submarine Support Facility New London in 1995. He reported to his second submarine, USS Dallas (SSN 700) on Dec. 31, 1998 where he completed two Mediterranean deployments in support of the Global War on Terrorism. During his time on board, the Dallas earned two Battle Efficiency "E" Awards from Submarine Squadron 2. In Sept. 2002, Machinist's Mate 1st Class Morgan was selected for the rank of Chief Petty Officer and was given follow-on orders to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.
His third submarine tour was aboard USS West Virginia (SSBN 736)(B) in Aug. 2005. Chief Machinist's Mate Morgan was selected to advance to the rank of Senior Chief in 2006. He attended Senior Enlisted Academy in 2008 and subsequently accepted orders to Commander, Submarine Squadron 2 where he served as the Squadron Auxiliaryman. After a two-year tour he received orders to serve as Chief of the Boat for USS Springfield (SSN 761) and was selected to the rank of Master Chief in May of 2011. He is a recent graduate of the Senior Enlisted Leadership School.
Master Chief Morgan is entitled to wear the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various other unit and service awards.
