Originally from San Fransisco, Ca., Commander Soldow attended the Virginia Military Institute and Oxford University, graduating in 1992 as the Distinguished Naval Graduate and Burke Scholor with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. He also holds a Master's in Operations Analysis from the Naval Post Graduate School.

Following initial pipeline traning, he served aboard USS West Virginia (SSBN 736), USS Pasadena (SSN 752) and USS Hampton (SSN 767) conducting both strategic deterrent patrols and forward deployed operations.

His shore assignments include tours at the Naval Post Graduate School, Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group (CNO SSG), Commander Submarine Forces Pacific Fleet Tactical Readiness Evaluation (TRE) Team, and Director Submarine Warfare Division (OPNAV N87).

Commander Soldow is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal as well as various personal, unit and service awards.
