ETCM(SS) Ronald F. Herman
Chief of the Boat
USS Newport News (SSN 750)

Master Chief Herman was born in Detroit, Mich. in 1970. He graduated from Warren Senior High School in Warren, Mich. in 1988. He enlisted in October 1988 and later that year completed Navy Basic Training and Submarine School before completing his Submarine Radioman pipeline schools in 1990.

Herman's at-sea assignments include USS Springfield (SSN 761)(Plank Owner), USS Parche (SSN 683), USS Minneapolis St. Paul (SSN 708) and USS Albany (SSN 753). His shore assignments include Communicator at Submarine Develiopment Squadron 5 Det. Bangor in Silverdale, Wash. Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes and Tactical Readiness Inspector at Commander Submarine Force Atlantic in Norfolk, Va.

Master Chief Herman assumed the duties as Chief of the Boat on June 22, 2012, He is authorized to wear the command senior chief /Chief of the boat badge, submarine warfare insignia, navy and marine corps commondation medal (2 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal (6 awards), and other unit and campaign awards.
