A native of Spring, Texas Lt. Cmdr. Todd graduated in 1999 from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering. He was commissioned at Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Fla. Prior to his naval service, he served as an artilleryman in the U.S. Army.

Following selection for Submarine Warfare, he attended Nuclear Power School and Prototype training in Charleston, S.C.  He then served as a division officer on USS Montpelier (SSN 765) and USS Augusta (SSN 710) from 2001 to 2004.

Upon completion of his division officer tour, Todd transferred to the staff of Commander, Strike Force Training Atlantic in Norfolk, Va., where he assisted in the planning and execution of fleet exercises.

In June 2007, Todd reported to Groton, Conn. aboard USS Springfield (SSN 761), as the Weapons Officer. While he was on board Springfield, the ship completed a deployment to the CENTCOM area of operations and earned the Submarine Squadron Two Tactical “T” and Battle Efficiency “E” Award.

Todd attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and School of Advanced Military Studies from June 2010 to May 2012, earning a Master’s degree of Military Arts and Sciences in Theater Operations.

Following completion of the Submarine Command Course, he reported as Executive Officer of USS Missouri (SSN 780). His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
