Cmdr. Luckett, from Banning, Calif., graduated with distinction from United States Naval Academy in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture.   

At sea, Luckett has served as a Division Officer onboard USS Jefferson City (SSN 759), home ported in San Diego, Calif.; as Engineer Officer of USS Houston (SSN 713), home ported in Bremerton, Wash. and Apra Harbor, Guam; as Executive Officer of USS Pennsylvania (Gold) (SSBN 735) home ported in Bangor, Wash.; and as Commanding Officer of USS Missouri (SSN 780), home ported in Groton, Conn., since April 2012.   

Ashore, Luckett has served as an operational planner in the Future Operations Division (J-35) of United States Special Operations Command and as a Company Officer and instructor of both leadership and engineering at the Naval Academy. 

Luckett is a graduate of the Joint Advanced Warfighting School, Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., holding a Masters of Science degree in Strategy and Joint Campaign Planning.  He also holds a Masters of Science degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Masters of Engineering degree in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. 

His personal awards include the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
