Lt. Cmdr. Shawn T. William
USS MIAMI (SSN 755)
Lt. Cmdr. Shawn William, a native of Brush, Colo., enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1994. Selected for the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program, William graduated from Oregon State University in 1999 with a Bachelors of Science in Nuclear Engineering and was commissioned following completion of Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Fla. William’s post-graduate accomplishments include a Masters in Leadership, Education and Development from the Naval Post Graduate School and a Masters of Engineering Management from the Old Dominion University.
Following completion of nuclear power training and Submarine School, William reported to USS Alaska (SSBN 732) in Bangor, Wash., where he served in a variety of division officer positions from May 2001 to May 2004. In May 2004, William was assigned as Company Officer at the Naval Academy. Following this shore assignment he reported as Engineer Officer to USS Albuquerque (SSN-706) in Groton, CT. During his tour, Albuquerque conducted an around the world deployment in conjunction with a change of homeport to San Diego, CA. In November 2010, William reported to the staff of Commander, Special Warfare Group Three in Coronado, Calif.
William’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 Awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 Awards).
