Master Chief Rock graduated from Milford High School, Highland, Mich., in June 1992. He joined the Navy on Oct. 19, 1992 where he attended Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.
After completing Recruit Training Command he went on to continue his training at Yeoman “A” School in Meridian, Miss., and basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Conn., in 1993.
In May 1993, Master Chief Rock reported onboard USS Indianapolis (SSN 697) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After completing numerous deployments he transferred in October of 1998 to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Orlando as the Director of “A” School’s personal Yeoman. During his tour at NNPTC the command itself moved to Charleston, S.C., and he played a vital role ensuring all administrative correspondence was completed with no disruptions.
In 2001 he went on to USS Louisiana (SSBN 742) (BLUE) out of Kings Bay, Ga., where he fleeted up to become the Leading Yeoman. Then in 2003 he transferred to COMSUBDEVRON 12 in Groton were he served on the Tactical Analysis Group (TAG) staff, completing all travel and correspondence for the Chief of Staff and TAG personnel.
After making Chief he transferred to USS Memphis (SSN 691) in Groton where he served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer of the Yeoman Division from October 2005 to January 2009. Following which, he went back to COMSUBDEVRON 12 to serve on the waterfront side where he was responsible for the Commodore and staff travel and administration.
Master Chief Rock left COMSUBDEVRON 12 to attend the Senior Enlisted Academy and Chief of the Boat/Command Master Chief Course in Newport, R.I., from March to May 2012. Upon completing these courses, Master Chief Rock reported on board USS Miami (SSN 755) in Portsmouth, N.H., in June 2012 where he relieved as Chief of the Boat.
Master Chief Rock wears the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (5 awards) and other personal, campaign and unit awards.
