Capt. Lahti, a native of Buffalo, New York, is a 1989 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He served as a division officer onboard USS STONEWALL JACKSON (SSBN 634)(BLUE), completing five strategic deterrent patrols. As the Navigator and Operations Officer on USS MIAMI (SSN 755), he completed a North Atlantic Deployment and a EUCOM/CENTCOM deployment as a part of the ENTERPRISE Battle Group, including participation in Operations DESERT FOX and NOBLE ANVIL. Capt. Lahti served as the Executive Officer onboard USS DALLAS (SSN 700), deploying with a special operations task force to AFRICOM. From 2007 to 2009, Capt. Lahti served as the Commanding Officer of USS NEBRASKA (SSBN 739)(GOLD), completing four strategic deterrent patrols, including the test launch of two TRIDENT II submarine launched ballistic missiles.

Ashore, Capt. Lahti served as the Operations Officer for Submarine Squadron FOUR and the Deputy Commander of Submarine Development Squadron TWELVE. He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School and the Naval War College, and holds graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and National Security and Strategic Studies. Capt. Lahti also served as an Associate Fellow on the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group.

Capt. Lahti and his wife, Lisa, reside in Gales Ferry, Conn. with their six children: Benjamin, Nathaniel, Samuel, Abraham, Rebekah, and Katheryn.
