Commander, Submarine Group Two


Captain Paul S. Snodgrass

A native of Seymour, Indiana, CAPT Snodgrass graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1989 with a B.S. in Mathematics.  Upon graduation, he completed Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI followed by Nuclear Propulsion training and the Submarine Officer Basic Course. He holds a M.A. in Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and Masters in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.

CAPT Snodgrass served his Junior Officer tour aboard USS BATFISH (SSN 681), where he completed a Mediterranean deployment. He was Engineer of USS NEWPORT NEWS (SSN 750), where he deployed to FIFTH Fleet as part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group. He served as Executive Officer of USS MAINE (SSBN 741) (BLUE), completing three strategic deterrent patrols. CAPT Snodgrass commanded USS BOISE (SSN 764). During his tour USS BOISE deployed to SIXTH FLEET and was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation. USS BOISE also completed a six month Docking Selected Restricted Availability in Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

CAPT Snodgrass has served as a Shift Engineer at Moored Training Ship (MTS) 626 in Charleston, and was the Submarine Group SEVEN Representative in Guam, where he completed a Western Pacific Deployment aboard USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40). He has served on the staff of Commander, Submarine Force Atlantic Fleet as the Executive Assistant, Strategic Planning Officer, Allied Submarine Command Chief of Staff and Tactical Readiness Evaluation Team Senior Member. He is a member of the American Society for Engineering Management and the Project Management Institute.
