Rear Adm. Perry assumed his duties as Commander, Submarine Group Two in April 2013.

Perry grew up in Navy homeports and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy.  He studied business at Duke University, Security Strategy at the National War College, and Government Policy at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

A career submarine officer, Perry has conducted special missions on board the Fast Attack Submarines USS Spadefish (SSN 668), and USS Indianapolis (SSN 697), and Strategic Deterrent Patrols on board the Ballistic Missile Submarines USS Nebraska (SSBN 739) and USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735).  He has deployed to every Combatant Commander Theater of Operations.

Perry commanded the Strategic Missile Submarine Pennsylvania and later Submarine Development Squadron Twelve.  He has served at Fleet, Joint, and Allied Headquarters in Washington, DC and overseas, and afloat on the Staff of the USS Enterprise Carrier Strike Group.  His shore assignments include Fleet Submarine Operations Officer, U.S. Naval Forces Europe - London, Special Assistant to Commander-in-Chief Allied Forces Southern Europe - Naples, as Navy Branch Chief - Reconnaissance Operations Division on the Joint Staff, Executive Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations, and Executive Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe - Belgium.

His most recent assignment prior to Commander, Submarine Group Two was Vice Commander, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command.  During this tour he led the International Mine Countermeasure Task Force and Task Force 522 - U.S. FIFTH Fleet.
