Cmdr. Bret M. Grabbe
Commanding Officer

Cmdr. Grabbe earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University and was commissioned in September 1996 at Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Fla. He holds a Master's in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College where he is an alumnus of the Gravely Group advanced research program.

Cmdr. Grabbe's operational assignments began as a junior officer aboard USS Alaska (SSBN 732) where he completed four stratiegic deterent patrols and commenced the D-5 missile conversion overhaul. Following his Division Officer tour, he served as Engineer aboard USS Memphis (SSN 691) and conducted deployments to the EUCOM, PACOM and AFRICOM theaters. He then served as Executive Officer aboard USS Providence (SSN 719) and completed a Selected Restricted Availability before deploying to CENTCOM.

Ashore, Cmdr. Grabbe served as shift engineer and staff training group officer at Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y. He also served on the staff of Commander Submarine Squadron Twelve as the materials officer and most recently completed his studies at the Naval War College.

Cmdr. Grabbe is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) as well as various Battle Effficiency and Unit Commendation awards.
