Congratulations to SPAWAR's Sailor of the Year, Cryptologic Technician 1st Class Eugene Parker Jr.! Petty Officer Parker, from SPAWAR Space Field Activity, led 43 Sailors and contractors through 4,861 hours of watch for 11 exercises spanning 145 days of forward and remote support. He tracked and provided mission input, ensuring on-schedule completion of exercises, despite significant budget cuts. Additionally, as command mentorship coordinator, he provided command mentorship programming and general military training for more than 100 Sailors.
Hailing from Virginia Beach, Va., Petty Officer Parker was stationed at SPAWAR Space Field Activity in June 2010.

PETTY OFFICER PARKER LED 43 SAILORS AND CONTRACTORS THROUGH 4,861 HOURS OF WATCH IN SUPPORT OF 11 EXERCISES SPANNING 145 DAYS OF FORWARD AND REMOTE SUPPORT. HE TRACKED AND PROVIDED MISSION INPUT FOR A $47,500 BUDGET, ENSURING ALL EXERCISES WERE COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE DESPITE SIGNIFICANT BUDGET CUTS. ADDITIONALLY, AS COMMAND MENTORSHIP COORDINATOR, HE PROVIDED COMMAND MENTORSHIP INDOCTRINATION TO 41 SAILORS AND GENERAL MILITARY TRAINING TO 185 SAILORS. PETTY OFFICER PARKER’S PROFESSIONALISM, PERSONAL INITIATIVE, AND DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
