On Oct. 2, 2011, SPAWAR established the Fleet Readiness Directorate to provide increased focus on C4I installations and in-service system sustainment. The directorate engages the fleet by looking at systems across platforms to address C4I system issues early. The Fleet Readiness Directorate will work with Regional Maintenance Centers, type commanders and other stakeholders to reduce delays and provide subject matter expertise early in the process.
The Fleet Readiness Directorate complements the established fleet maintenance roles of help desks, Regional Maintenance Centers and type commander staffs and will provide a flag-led point of entry to SPAWAR and its affiliated PEOs for all matters of installation delivery, in-service sustainment and C4I readiness. This includes SPAWAR Fleet System Engineering Teams embarked with strike groups, In-Service Engineering Activities and program offices. The Fleet Readiness Directorate will support Navy Cyber Forces and platform type commanders to ensure the Fleet's C4I readiness. PEOs and type commander staffs will continue to engage with PEO C4I platform program managers (PMW 750, 760, 770) on modernization, advanced planning, integration and new ship construction issues.
