Intelligent Decision Support System
PDF Version
The U.S. Navy seeks to commercialize U.S. Patent 7,047,226 (System and method for knowledge amplification employing structured expert randomization (KASER)).
Background
An ever-increasing percentage of our economy is dependent on computer technology. PCs and more exotic hardware platforms support the execution of decision support systems, or expert systems. These systems mimic the knowledge and intelligence of a domain expert in solving problems. They are widely used in help desks that support telephone callers, in MS Word® help menus, in medical/automotive diagnosis, and more.
The Technology
Current expert systems rely on linear learning, requiring continuous input and upkeep of rules due to their inability to learn independently. This causes bottlenecks in the knowledge base as the rules and upkeep take time and suffer from higher error rates. These systems also lack the capability to provide creative solutions, one of our most valuable assets in solving problems. SSC Pacific has developed and patented a method and system that overcomes these shortcomings.
