VISITOR INFORMATION

 

Welcome to the Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific

 
A landmark research facility in San Diego for more than 75 years, SSC Pacific has a workforce of more than 4,700 scientists, researchers, and engineers, and is a member of an exclusive team of research labs that comprise the Department of Defense’s biggest brain trust.
 

 

SSC Pacific-Topside is located at the intersection of Electron Drive and Catalina Boulevard, across from the Navy’s Third Fleet Headquarters at the end of Pt. Loma. The base overlooks both San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean.


 

ACCESS

SSC Pacific is a restricted government facility and requires a SSC Pacific badge for entry, along with one of following identifications:

      • A valid Common Access Card (CAC)
      • Retired Military Identification (ID) Card
      • Reserve Military ID Card
      • Military Dependent ID Card
      • RAPIDGate Card
      • Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Card for U.S. citizens
      • Permanent Residents must have their Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), in addition to their SSC Pacific badge for entry.

VISITS

The Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) is the preferred method for submitting visit requests to SSC Pacific.  Companies or organizations not on JPAS must fax a visit request to the SSC Pacific Security Division at (619) 553-6169 on company or organization letterhead.  To check to see if the fax has been received, call (619) 553-3211.  Please allow three business days for processing.
Information for JPAS:

      • Non-SCI visits submit JPAS to:  SMO 660015
      • SCI visit submit JPAS to:  SMO 660013
    1. Name and address of the agency or company requesting the visit
    2. Name and address of the command (SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific), 53560 Hull Street, San Diego, CA 92152) to be visited
    3. Name (in full) and title of the person to be visited. NOTE: If the visitor is visiting a contractor employee, a government employee point of contact is required
    4. Name (in full) of the employee, including title or position, for which the approval is requested
    5. Date and place of birth, citizenship and social security number of the visitor; if the visitor is a permanent resident, the registration number must be included
    6. Date(s) of requested visit
    7. Purpose and justification for the visit. If a contract is involved, the contract number must be furnished. NOTE: If the visit is unclassified, items 8, 9 and 10 below are not required
    8. Name and address of contractor's cognizant security officer, assigned CAGE or FSC number, and certification of the level of the facility's clearance
    9. Agency / company certification of the employee's current clearance status
    10. The visit request must be signed by an authorized agency official, security manager or facility security officer.

VETTING PROCESS
 

This process takes seven to fourteen (7-14) working days to complete. Personnel who are not vetted will require escorts.

Commander Navy Region South West (CNRSW) has implemented procedures requiring the completion of the SECNAV 5512/1 form in order to conduct criminal history checks of visitors who  DO NOT possess any of these credentials:
      • A valid Common Access Card (CAC)
      • Retired Military Identification (ID) Card
      • Reserve Military ID Card
      • Military Dependent ID Card
      • RAPIDGate Card
      • Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Card for U.S. citizens
      • Permanent Residents Card (Green Card)

Also for those who require unescorted access onboard SSC Pacific.

Personnel who have cleared the vetting process, will be issued a Day Pass along with their SSC Pacific badge when they check-in.  A Day Pass can only be issued for one day.  If a visit is multiple days, the visitor will be required to obtain a new Day Pass each day from the Badge and Decal Office before entering the base.

All visitors not possessing authorized credentials must complete and sign the SECNAV 5512/1 form.  Please fax all Base Access Requests to (619) 553-6169 or send via encrypted email to W_SPSC_SSC_PAC_visitrequest_US@navy.mil.

FOREIGN VISITS

Foreign visitors must contact their Embassy in Washington, D.C.,and request a Foreign Visit Request be sent to SSC Pacific.

PARKING

Parking is available in any unreserved marked spot. Most of the large buildings have visitor parking areas, and disabled parking is also available. However, parking is very limited in some areas.  For questions about parking areas, please coordinate with your government point of contact or host.
