As a thriving city, San Diego has a wealth of cultural attractions.
Balboa Park, the nation's largest urban cultural park, covers 1,400 acres in the middle of San Diego. It includes 15 museums ranging from art to science to air and space to natural history. Just a walk away from the museums is the world famous San Diego Zoo and the Old Globe Theatre. Balboa Park host December Nights the first Friday and Saturday of December. This is a two-day event that attracted 325,000 visitors in 2008. There are performers performing in the outdoor stage named Spreckels Organ Pavilion, booths selling random items scattered around the park and a culturally diverse food offerings that might be sole reason for such a high number of returns ever year.
San Diego's nationally acclaimed playhouses, the Old Globe Theatre, the La Jolla Playhouse and the Escondido Performing Arts Center, play host to ballets, operas, plays and musicals.
Street Scene is a music festival held each summer in San Diego with more than 70 musical acts from different genres.
