Systems and Software Engineering
SSC Atlantic's New Orleans Office offers an experienced, competency-based software engineering organization focused on the customer, backed by demonstrated success in meeting cost, schedule and performance requirements. Our systems engineering process is based on complete life cycle management of systems - requirements, design, delivery and maintenance. Support includes software development, production engineering and support, system sustainment, testing, CM, database administration, data warehousing, requirements management, risk management, documentation and quality assurance. SSC Atlantic's New Orleans Office leverages business process re-engineering to reduce total life cycle costs. Systems engineering involves the customer in every phase of the life cycle and provides continuous coordination and reviews. The organization's engineering processes are based on CMMI practices. Lean Six Sigma practices are embedded in all systems engineering efforts. Adherence to IEEE 12207 and ISO 9000 standards is included in the systems engineering framework.
Project Management / Life Cycle Management
Our project managers guide customers in determining the right solution to fit their business objectives. They plan, scope, estimate, manage and oversee all phases of the system / software life cycle. We build schedules, identify risk and mitigation strategies, conduct routine program reviews and monitor costs as part of our project management strategy. We work with customers every step of the way until their business objectives are achieved.
Shared Services
We operate with a Shared Services architecture / environment and cost model, offering customers secure production, quality assurance and testing, and development environments fully resident within the NMCI enclave, with full COOP capability at an offsite location. Shared Services encompass all aspects of enterprise-level software engineering competencies including application hosting, network engineering, application engineering, network and application security, netcentric data engineering and supporting architectures such as Service Oriented Architecture. Our hosting facility uses virtual server technology, which reduces the server footprint. The architecture uses modern, enterprise-level Sun and Dell hardware utilizing virtual machine technologies to provide scalable and redundant automatic fail-over solutions.
Comprehensive Security
Security is a mainstay of the Global Information Grid. Shared Services provides a tiered framework of passive monitoring and active defense of all network and application services. Application security begins with a thorough engineering and security review of an application's architecture. Artifacts from this review can consist of System Security Authorization Agreement for obtaining authority to operate from the Naval Network Warfare Command. Periodic network and application security procedures such as scanning, intrusion detection, information assurance vulnerability management and annual reviews ensure the survivability and security of all hosted applications.
