It is the mission of the Critical Infrastructure Protection Center (CIPC) to foster system security engineering solutions for critical infrastructure protection by integrating information operations, emergency management and other critical infrastructure protection initiatives. This requires the rapid fusion of information from many sources and a quick delivery of tailored alert, warning and situation reports to many organizations to keep them aware of domestic activities.
The CIPC is operated by SSC Atlantic and its support contractors who, through established Cooperative Research and Development Agreements, have already built partnerships with local, county, state and federal agencies involved in emergency management, information operations and critical infrastructure protection.
The CIPC is functioning as a trusted agent, an honest broker and a confidant of its partnering organizations—protective of their security and critical infrastructure concerns. The CIPC facilitates the identification of best practices and leverages individual sector and corporate developments. Using existing teaming and supporting agreements, the CIPC will create memorandums of agreement and teaming agreements, as appropriate, to ensure understanding of services available its partners and confidentiality of their sensitive information.
