Veterans Day was first observed in 1919 to commemorate the signing of the Armistice Agreement that ended WWI. Nearly a century later and now a national holiday, Veterans Day pays honor and thanks to all military veterans, past and present, who have answered their nation's call to serve.
As Naval Special Warfare begins to drawdown in Afghanistan and reconstitute in a global SOF network, we are mindful of the dedication of those who have served on the front lines for these last 12 years, and the fact that the world remains a very unstable place. Our forces will continue to be called upon, and so we will stay focused, resilient and prepared to answer our nation's call, whenever and from wherever it comes.
On this Veterans Day, Naval Special Warfare salutes our nation's veterans!
