FORCM Lance Kitchens
Force Master Chief, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command
Master Chief Kitchens, a native of Lakeland, Florida, entered the U.S. Navy in 1989, attending recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL.
His sea duty assignments included: Third Marine Division; USS NICHOLAS (FFG 47); Assault Craft Unit TWO; USS OAK HILL (LSD 51); Helicopter Combat Squadron TWO TWO; Riverine Squadron THREE.
Force Master Chief Covington was selected for the Command Master Chief program in March 2004 and reported as the Command Master Chief (CMDCM) of NCWG-1, San Diego, Calif., where he served until October 2005. He completed successful tours as the CMDCM at Naval Coastal Warfare Squadron 30 from 2006-2007; U.S. Naval Forces Iraq from 2007-2008; U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/ 5TH FLEET from 2008-2010; and Riverine Group One from 2010-2011. He is currently serving as the NECC Force Master Chief.
His shore duty assignments included: Corpsman “A” School, Great Lakes, IL; Field Medical Service School, Camp LeJeune, NC; Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA; Independent Duty Corpsman “C” School, Portsmouth, VA; Afloat Training Group Atlantic, Coastal Riverine Group TWO and currently serves as the Force Mater Chief at Navy Expeditionary Combat Command.
His personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal (Gold Star in lieu of Second Award); Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of Fifth Award); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of Second Award) and numerous campaign and unit awards.
Master Chief Kitchens is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and The National Defense University Keystone course. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Old Dominion University and a Master of Science Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from Trident University.
